Odin’s Caravan

In spring 2017 we were approached by a couple of young Frenchmen wishing to create a mobile tavern which they could bring to various events all over Europe. They asked us to sew a large linen tarpaulin resembling an early medieval tent which was supposed to clad a metal construction of their own design. The whole contraption was to rest on a medium-size trailer, thus providing the mobility necessary for the success of the project. We took one look at at the drawing depicting the future tavern and fell in love with the idea, so as soon as all the details were cleared, we set down to work. The result was a tent of magnificent proportions – 4.5m high, 5m wide and over 9m long – with two long walls which can be lifted to create awnings sheltering the patrons from sun and rain, and generous space for the bar in the centre.
